Abby Says:

I have a feeling that you will easily be able to tell who writes what on here, because it’s Catie, the soon to be professional writer…and me, who can barely makes complete sentences.

The flights are booked. It is official. And along the process I learned that my laptop hates life. And the guy on the phone at BA was getting frustrated and told me to take it to Best Buy some day before I leave for England. Thanks, sir.

All we need to do now is get our bodies checked out (by a doctor, of course) and fill out papers that say we are not dying and are not carrying any infestations within us to infect an entire country with. Oh America…the diseases you give us.

114 and counting. Woohoo!!!

Catie Says:

So, it’s now official. After the worlds longest phone relay call involving Abby on her computer talking to her dad and me at the same time while I talk to my mom and dad at the same time, our flights have been determined and we, are, officially and without restraint, scheduled to fly to England.
Lesson learned, however, that flights get awfully expensive the longer you wait. We are each paying about 980 bucks for our to-and-from journeys, which doesn’t sound too awful comparatively, but as American Airlines just imposed a $15 fee per checked suitcase, this could get even more expensive if British Airway decides to follow suit.
But whatever. We are going to England!!!!!

May 22nd, 2008

The countdown now resides at 118 days until we are scheduled to depart for England. It’s to the point where all I think about is going to England, and how much rediculous amazingness this next year is going to be. I think the people at my office are tired of me talking about how amazing it’s going to be, when they are stuck here working to put hardened criminals in jail. Yet another reason why I chose to be a theatre major. It gives me great hope for the future. However, I have become a pessimist in my dreams. I keep dreaming that something will go terribly, terribly wrong and I won’t be able to go. Maybe it’s because this level of amazingness has never happened to me before. I’m not used to the feeling just yet.
Yesterday I got the first sign from God that it is going to be a good year. Abby and I went to the registrar’s office to have him sign a paper, and literally as he passed it back across the desk to me, my hand touched it and my phone rang. It was Jason from Edge Hill University, calling to check on me and see if I had any questions. Yeah.
But it gets better: as a result of the conversation, Abby and I are going to not only be going to England together, but we are going to be roomates in the Milton House. Like I said. This level of awesome doesn’t happen to me very often. Color this kid excited.
Its just the thought of everything, from the fact that England is not Iowa to eating real spaghetti in an Italian Bistro on a Sunday afternoon with my best friend that get me a little excited.
Granted, I started this a little early, but this glimpse into preparation for a year of studying abroad might help you understand the intrinsic epic-ness of what will go into a year of Adventuring.
